Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. The recycling process involves separating, collecting, sorting, and converting used or waste products into raw materials that can be used in the production of new items.

We accept a wide range of materials including paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic bags, aluminum cans, steel cans, plastics labeled #1-7, and more. Please check our Accepted Items page for a detailed list.

We do not accept hazardous materials, Styrofoam, chemicals/paint, tires, yard waste, or items contaminated with food or oil. Visit our Accepted Items page for more information on what cannot be recycled through us.

Yes, please do as much pre-sorting as possible because we are unable to accept materials that are commingled. Upon arrival at the recycling center, you are required to separate items by placing them in their corresponding bins.

Our center is open Mondays through Saturdays, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The recycling center is closed on public holidays.

No, our recycling drop-off service is free of charge for Mobile County residents. 

We accept some electronics (computers, printers, etc.) for recycling. While we accept flat screen TVs and monitors, we do not accept box TVs or monitors. Also, we accept small appliances but cannot accept large appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.).

Hazardous materials, such as paints, chemicals, and batteries, should be taken to a specialized hazardous waste facility. Check with your local municipality for safe disposal options.

No, we do not provide a home or business pick-up service. All items acceptable for recycling (see our Accepted Items page) must be dropped off in person at the recycling center. Our volunteers assist users as they drop off items, sort recyclables, and help with projects.
